The weather can make a big difference to the jobs that Prospect members do – whether it is analysing and predicting it at the Met Office, or keeping people safe in aviation come rain or shine. And our members in the British Antarctic Survey can experience some of the most extreme weather in the world.
Marion Scovell, Prospect’s head of legal said:
“At this time of year we get a range of questions from members about workers’ rights during bad weather and where their employers are lacking in the festive spirit.
"These range from issues about travel disruption and low temperatures to queries about time off work over the seasonal period and harassment at parties.
Prospect members can speak to their Prospect Rep for advice - if they have one in their workplace - or call our Member Contact Centre if not.
For some of Prospect members, working outdoors or in other challenging conditions, changes in weather can present health and safety issues.
