Members to be balloted on offer to settle Scottish airports dispute

Members to be balloted on offer to settle dispute with Scottish airports group

Following talks earlier today with Scottish airports group HIAL, Prospect is pleased to announce that there is now an offer in place which will be recommended to members.

Alan Denney, Prospect national secretary, said: “We believe this offer provides a realistic opportunity to settle our long-running dispute with HIAL over the unequal treatment of our members working in security company AMSL.

“If agreed, there will be an alignment of terms and conditions over the next 20 months.”

The union will begin balloting members at the end of this week, with the ballot closing on May 5. During this time the current “work to rule” action will be suspended.

Progress has been made since Prospect members in security company AMSL held a 48 hour strike following the Easter weekend break.

In the six years since HIAL brought security in house, management has failed to agree equal pay, holidays, and sick pay for AMSL’s airport security workers.

Prospect represents more than 120 of AMSL’s 160 workers covering eleven Scottish airports including Dundee, Inverness, Stornoway and Sumburgh.
