Ericsson Severance Package for Front Office Team, Hayes

14 September 2010

Following our email to members on 9 September, we have now agreed voluntary severance terms with Ericsson.

You will have received the detail of these from Ericsson.

These reflect the terms that the union was able to include as part of the matrix on transfer from Vodafone last year but with some additional improvements

• Service rounded-up to the higher whole year rather then down
• Extension of cap on basic salary increased to 56 weeks for individuals with 12 weeks or greater notice periods

This concludes our discussions on terms, representing as they do the best terms that can be agreed between Prospect and Ericsson. The extension of the cap is a something that Ericsson has agreed as a way of resolving concerns about aspects of this specific programme and is not something that sets a precedent for future negotiations.

We believe that we have achieved a payment that is significantly better then both the statutory or wider Ericsson position, and that is at least in line with what would have been the approach in Vodafone. Please remember that these terms are voluntary and applications for VS need to be made to the company by Friday 24 September.

Consultation over the offshoring continues, and we will be seeking to move the focus now onto maximising redeployment opportunities for members who wish to stay in the business, as well as establishing more clearly the timescales and support provided for those who wish to leave.

Working with your local Prospect reps, Moustapha Krayem and Reuben Grech as well as talking with individual members over the weeks we understand the frustration that there has been and the need to provide a clear final position.

It has not always been possible to provide a commentary of progress that the union is making in working with Ericsson to secure an agreed programme for members, so your patience and understanding is much appreciated.
