Payment Protection Insurance (PPI)
Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) was designed to cover repayments on agreements such as loans, credit cards, mortgages, store cards and even catalogues.
It can be a useful insurance, but in many instances PPI was mis-sold. Where this is the case you can make a claim to recover the premiums you paid, plus interest.
The Financial Conduct Authority has set 29 August 2019 as the deadline for making a claim. If you were mis-sold PPI on a loan, credit card or mortgage you must submit your claim before that date or you will be unable to recover money that is rightfully yours.
Free PPI check for Prospect members
PPI claims management company Gladstone Brookes is offering Prospect members a free PPI check. The check aims to establish if you paid PPI on any agreements your lender holds on record for you.
Whatever the outcome of the check, Gladstone Brookes will advise you of your options. If PPI is or may have been present, Gladstone Brookes will offer you their PPI Claim service.
You're under no obligation to use it, but if you decide to make a claim through Gladstone Brookes, as a Prospect member your fees are reduced to 17.5% + VAT (from 25% + VAT).
