Courses for Prospect reps
Prospect is committed to ensuring that its workplace representatives have the skills and knowledge they need to carry out their trade union role effectively and to the best of their ability. Prospect carries this out through its education team.
The education team is responsible for developing our national education programme, which delivers nearly 50 training courses to around 600 Prospect members across the UK each year.
You can view details of all the courses in the national programme, with dates and venues, and apply online.
In addition, around 450 members a year participate in learning events organised by their branch, section or region and funded centrally by the education team.
Choosing a course
You'll find course dates and venues on our Apply for Prospect courses page, and we publish the details twice-yearly in Report magazine.
On our course listings page you can click on each course to find out more details on content and eligibility, helping you to choose the right course for your role and level of experience. We hope that this level of detail will give you the information you need to make an informed choice about which course is right for you.
If you're still unsure which course is most appropriate for you, you may wish to discuss this with your branch or section secretary and/or your Prospect organiser. If you are still in doubt, contact the education team on 020 7902 2247 or email us at POLAeducation@prospect.org.uk
When you apply for a Prospect course, please make sure that your notify your branch secretary/ principal officer, Prospect organiser and full-time officer. Give some thought to how you will apply your new skills once back at work and who will support you in this. Once you have a confirmed course place, please do your utmost to ensure that you attend as scheduled.
In addition to Prospect's own courses, members can access a wide range of courses, seminars and other training opportunities run by TUC Education and/or the GFTU.
Prospect will consider funding travel and subsistence for members attending courses run by TUC Education. To apply for funding, you will need to complete an application form and submit this to the education team well in advance of the scheduled course start date.
You will then receive a funding agreement giving approval for you to reclaim your T&S costs. To apply for a place on a TUC Education course please visit www.unionlearn.org.uk or contact Prospect's education team for further information on how we can help you with your costs.
We want you to enjoy your learning experience with us. If there is anything we can do to improve our service to you, please let us know.
