The Role of Pensions Research Officer

Prospect is looking for an experienced pensions professional to provide advice and negotiating support to our team of field officials.

You will need to:

  • Have a good knowledge of pensions policy and practice across the public and private sectors.
  • Be able to advise both on Defined Benefit schemes and the development of Defined Contribution provision.
  • Provide thought leadership on pensions policy.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and training.
  • Want to make the world of work better for everyone through promoting membership and the values of the trade union movement.

Where this role fits in

This role is part of our Research and Policy team – which also includes an Assistant Pensions Officer.

You will be working with colleagues in the research, negotiating and communications team and with our volunteer representatives.

Executive Assistant

  • Based in the Edinburgh Prospect Office
  • Permanent Position
  • Salary Range £12,662 - £15,118 per annum
  • 17.5 hours over 5 days per week

We employ in excess of 250 staff, many in our London headquarters, but also in our offices in the English regions, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Prospect is seeking to recruit an Executive Assistant to support the work of our Negotiations team based in our Edinburgh office. This is a permanent, part time, position and your hours of work will be 17.5 hours per week worked across 5 days. You will need to have a positive attitude, excellent attention to detail and good organisational skills to ensure the highest level of service is provided to Prospect Members and to the team around you.

Specifically, the applicants should have:

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Strong team working skills
  • Comprehensive administration skills with excellent attention to detail including the ability to take minutes of meetings
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines

Senior Executive Assistant

  • Salary range £29,355 to £35,051 per annum

Prospect is seeking to recruit a Senior Executive Assistant to support the National Secretary and negotiations team based in our Liverpool office. This is a permanent position and your core working week will be 35 hours. You will need to have a positive attitude, excellent attention to detail and good organisational skills to ensure the highest level of service is provided to Prospect Members and to the team around you.

Specifically, the applicants should have:

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills with experience in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues
  • Strong team worker and motivator
  • Comprehensive administration skills with excellent attention to detail including the ability to take minutes of meetings
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • Diary management
  • Office management skills including supervisory experience
  • Strong IT skills
  • Ability to solve problems in a professional manner
  • Influencing skills
  • Ability to follow processes and systems
