Energy is one of Prospect’s major sectors, where we represent people from all parts of the industry.

As a union for modern working life we aim to get the best deal for our members by using evidence and building partnerships with employers – while never being scared to call employers out when they get things wrong.

Prospect is a great place to work - this role has access to our high-quality defined benefit pension scheme and 25 days annual leave each year. We offer a good work-life balance and offer support for training and development.

About the role

The UK energy sector is experiencing major transformation and challenge. Prospect is respected for our experience and expertise in the sector, and we have a key role to play in ensuring that this process of change is fair for workers, creates new opportunities for skills development and recognition, and does not compromise on good quality terms and conditions or health and safety standards.

We are looking for an energy project organiser to build Prospect’s membership growth including in newer areas, such as renewables and through supply chains. This will involve developing relationships with workers in a range of workspaces across the UK, understanding their needs and the added value of union membership. It will include promoting Prospect in a variety of industry settings and ensuring effective communication through a range of channels. Understanding and experience of operating within the industry will therefore be extremely beneficial.

You will need to:

  • Analyse data and information from a range of sources to identify recruitment opportunities.
  • Understand the needs of potential members and be able to communicate and, as appropriate, develop Prospect’s offer.
  • Create opportunities to connect with energy workers, face-to-face and through a variety of channels.
  • Use your knowledge of the industry to target membership initiatives.
  • Work independently and as part of a cross-functional team to deliver initiatives and events that promote Prospect’s brand and membership.
  • Be an effective verbal and written communicator with experience of dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Be well organised and have the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Want to improve the world of work for everyone through promoting the values of the trade union movement.

  • 3% incremental steps on basic salary at 1 January each year subject to successful performance in the role and the maximum of the grade
