Prospect Public Health England
Welcome to PHE's Prospect e-Branch
Prospect represents a large number of scientific, technical and specialist staff in PHE, and voices their concerns to management. In addition to negotiating with management at local and regional levels, Prospect representatives sit on the national PHE Partnership Forum (the combined voice of trade unions represented at all PHE sites) that negotiates agreements on your pay, conditions of service and PHE policies. If changes are imposed by PHE or the Cabinet Office, Prospect seeks to ensure maximum protection for its Members as one of the main negotiating unions in the civil service. The union also provides support for individual Members who find themselves in difficulties at work, and can represent their cases at all levels. However, Prospect will not normally be able to provide assistance to new joiners on any pre-existing personal cases.
Prospect is also a campaigning organisation, well-respected for their work on issues such as science funding, energy policy and quality public services. Prospect is non-party political, but the expertise of Members makes our voice count.
We offer various relevant benefits and services to Members such as a personal injury scheme which gives legal assistance to any Member and their immediate family who suffers injury or disease (at work or outside) caused by a third party. In the past five years this scheme secured over £3 million per year for its Members. Many Members find that use of Prospect services can offset their membership subscriptions.
Other services available to Prospect Members include:
- 24hr legal advice line
- Benevolent fund for members or their dependents
- Death benefit scheme (£1095 in 2018)
