Prospect's Cardiff office is the union's base in Wales from which it negotiates with many employers across both the public and private sectors.
The union's office location places it in an ideal position to engage with members of the the Welsh Government and the National Assembly for Wales on a range of issues from environment policy to investment in skills and the importance of protecting Wales’ heritage.
Prospect has over 5,000 members living and working in Wales for a variety of employers covering:
- defence
- energy
- research
- agriculture
- heritage
- industry
- health and safety
- telecoms
- nuclear
- science
- civil service, including the Wales Audit Office, Welsh Government and National Assembly for Wales.
Our Welsh branches have over 100 elected representatives who work with Prospect's full time officials to negotiate, represent, lobby and advocate on our members behalf.
We are affiliated to, and actively involved in, the Wales Trades Union Congress, and play an active role in its Executive Committee and General Council. The next Wales TUC Annual Conference will be 22-24 May 2012 in Llandudno. Delegates selected from among our elected representatives will be attending, and will speak on motions submitted by Prospect’s Cardiff office.
Prospect’s Cardiff office is also a key resource for the many Prospect members who live and work in Wales but where negotiations with their employer are conducted with a full-time officer based in one of Prospect other offices.
