BT Capabilities Agreement

The Managing Changing Capabilities Agreement is the process that is used for people who develop a disability or long term health condition, or whose existing conditions worsens, while working at BT. We believe this process provides a clear path for reps and members in what can be a difficult period of readjustment. The process and supporting documentation is available on this page.

The thrust of the process is about trying to keep an individual employed-ideally in their existing job suitably adjusted but, if that is not possible, in a different suitably adjusted role. The job search process is proactive and MCC candidates are given high priority. Other key elements are as follows:

A new structure of MCC leads is being introduced into each of the Lines of Business which will provide a better focus and consistency in dealing with MCC cases across the business as a whole.

MCC candidates will have top priority for all new vacances save for maternity leave returners.

There will be no competitive interview where there is a reasonable skill match.

There is an Enable Plus opt-in package, aimed to support individuals in the MCC process to help them find alternative work in BT. The elements of this package that offer support to find external employment are entirely voluntary and will initially be adopted on a trial basis for 3 months.
