NERC

Prospect is the union for scientists and managers employed by the NERC. We also represent transferred staff from the University of Southampton. There are active local committees in all of the NERC centres and surveys. Prospect negotiates for members at local level and centrally. These negotiating committees are part of the respected joint management and union structures. The NERC and its centres and surveys encourage all new recruits to join their union.

In the NERC, we work closely with the PCS union, which represents all other employees, to promote members' interests.

In the wider community, we represent scientists and science issues and have close links with parliament and its select committees. We actively lobby for science funding and develop support networks of members with shared interests.
