Resources for reps

It is often said that a union is its members. But it is just as meaningful to say that a union is its representatives: the active members who give their time to protect and advance the interests of their colleagues at work and in wider society. Without our reps, we would not be able to do the work and to provide the service that we do.

We support the work of our reps in a number of ways - training them, keeping them informed about key work-related issues, helping them communicate with their members, and giving them the confidence and skills they need to recruit new members.

Training

Information

• Our reps' handbook is an introduction to the role of a Prospect representative. It provides the basic information that reps need to make the most of their role within Prospect.
• Report magazine is one of the key resources for our reps, with nine issues published each year. We send it to everyone who's recorded as a rep on our membership database, and they can opt to receive it electonically. You can download the current or previous issues of Report in PDF format.
• Reps can download or order other documents such as our members' and reps' guides from our publications page, or download our current publications leaflet which lists a wider range of documents such as posters and campaign materials.

Communication

• Any Prospect branch can have its own eBranch - a private area of our site which can only be seen by members of that branch, and a public area which can used for recruitment or campaign purposes.
• We provide an intranet content package which branches can use if they have been given space on their employer's intranet.
• Reps can download the Prospect logo, plus guidance and background information about our house style
• Prospect's media guide contains key advice on handling media inquiries and contacting press, radio and TV.
  

Recruitment

You can find a range of recruitment and organisation resources in the separate 'recruitment' area of the site. Potential members can join and set up a direct debit mandate online.

Health and safety reps
