Prospect is the UK’s largest union for workers in the nuclear industry.
We represent more than 12,000 workers across all parts of the industry – including fuel manufacturing, power generation, research, and decommissioning.
Our members work in some of the UK’s most prominent nuclear sites including at Sellafield in Cumbria and at Dounreay in the north of Scotland. We are a recognised trade union at the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and at the UK Atomic Energy Authority.
Nuclear must be at the heart of a secure and decarbonised energy system. Prospect is a strong voice calling for a nuclear new-build programme and investment in the UK’s nuclear supply chain.
We help our members win a better deal at work and campaign on issues affecting the nuclear industry. Prospect works with a range of bodies including the National Skills Academy, Nuclear Industry Council, and Trade Unionists for Safe Nuclear Energy.

The government is to set out a plan for supporting skills in the civil and defence nuclear sectors, with funding announced to keep Barrow as the main site for submarine building.
