IPO set for strike action
Prospect members at the Intellectual Property Office are to take industrial action in February after a ballot of members voted with a huge majority in favour. In a turnout of 65%, 88% voted in favour of strike action and 90% for action short of a strike.
Skilled workers threatened by dismissal changes
The government is stripping workers of their fundamental rights with its plans to cap unfair dismissal payments and introduce settlement agreements that remove the right to go to an employment tribunal, Prospect said today.

QinetiQ, the privatised company that provides scientific and technical backup to the Ministry of Defence, has been accused of union-busting, after announcing today that it is terminating recognition with all its trade unions with effect from 31 March.
