Project Maya Consultations Update

5 April 2012

We are entering the last stages of Project Maya consultations now. The plan is still to complete the transfer on May 1st.

Prospect has fed all concerns that have been received from members into the process. Most of the principal issues have been resolved and have been communicated in the company’s Q&As, Huawei’s presentation to all in scope and the recent pensions briefings.

Telefonica and Huawei have agreed to the Voluntary Redundancy terms being extended for 3 years. Huawei has agreed that people can remain in their current (or very near) locations for 2 years, unless they wish to move, and homeworking can continue as currently. We are still clarifying the very important bonus arrangements that will be transferring, amongst other matters.

Prospect is aware that there may be other concerns that members feel have not been addressed. Many of these may relate to your individual concerns, rather than collective matters. We are aware that one or two members have individual grievances outstanding about their relative pay or grading in relation to colleagues.

Please could you let the union know by reply to this communication, if there are any further concerns that are important for you to have addressed. There are two opportunities to ensure you are comfortable with these remaining issues. Firstly Prospect will try and resolve remaining concerns you make us aware of with Huawei and Telefonica. Secondly, you will have the opportunity to clarify outstanding matters at your individual consultations next week. It is really important that you take the opportunity to make us aware of any remaining issues as soon as possible.

Prospect will be establishing a dedicated Branch to interface directly with Huawei once the transfer takes place. It will include all members, be they MPG or PTG / PCG grades. We will need that Branch to be fully representative as we develop a positive and constructive relationship with Huawei. Please encourage any of your colleagues who are not  members to join now.
