Prospect seeks input on innovative new apprenticeship App

Prospect is planning to give apprentices easy access to information and resources through a new App it is creating for mobile devices. The project is at the planning stage, and the union is seeking suggestions for the App's functionality through a short online survey.
The App is being developed as as part of Prospect's Union Learning Funded Project. It will enable an individual to access all the key information they need within 3 clicks, such as registering for an apprentice vacancy, talking to current apprentices, or self assessing their current skills.
There is currently no App for mobile devices on the market for to support people who are considering an apprenticeship. Prospect says the App will also be useful for young people who may no longer have access to independent careers advice at school.
The union is keen to support a group of defined learners who are often 'disadvantaged' when workforce development is considered, because they sit outside the organisation's plan. Prospect has a growing number of apprentices as members, working across many sectors.
The initiative is supported by the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) – the organisation responsible for the promotion, funding and delivery of Apprenticeships in England (Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have separate responsible bodies for apprenticeships).
The survey is anonymous and consists of ten questions that should take no more than 3-4 minutes to answer. It closes on 18 June 2012. Prospect is interested in the views of apprentices themselves, as well as those who manage or mentor apprentices, plus parents or carers.
