Prospect ULRs have successfully used global themes as a platform for workplace learning events - this is an introduction to union learning with a development take on it.

Artists giving their services free for the evening are Billy Bragg, poet Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze, Cuban salsa band Son Mas and Omar Puente have already confirmed, and Courtney Pine and Benjamin Zephaniah along with others have been invited to perform. Hosted by the TUC as part of the TUC Aid Haiti Earthquake Appeal, tickets are £10 each (pay bar) and unions and union branches are encouraged to block book tickets and advertise the event to members.

Every person should be able to have a job that enables them to live a good life in which their basic needs are met; employment is a crucial factor for achieving this and decent work is a key part of the solution to the global crises. It means ensuring job creation, putting an end to discrimination, child and forced labour and protection of workers' rights - including providing social safety nets for those who are out of work.
