Women in Zimbabwe are being forced to use newspapers and rags for sanitary protection because they can't afford to buy proper sanitary protection. Just one pack of sanitary pads costs more than 50% of the average monthly wage for a woman worker.
As well as the risk of infection, women are unable to work when they have their periods, so the family income suffers. Girls are also forced to take time off school, jeopardising their education. ACTSA is generating awareness and raising funds to supply sanitary products to these women.
