The Trade Union Disability Alliance, to which Prospect is affiliated, has published a Trade Union Charter for Disability which is intended to help unions in representing disabled members’ interests and in complying with responsibilities to disabled staff and members under disability discrimination legislation. The National Executive Committee have endorsed the recommendations and action plans from a working group set up to consider how Prospect can meet the commitments of the Charter.

There will be presentations from from Banana Link (the organisation campaigning for a fair and sustainable banana trade) and TUC Aid (a trade union charity for working people in need throughout the world), plus talks about the survivors of human trafficking, and women affected/infected with HIV/AIDS in Nepal.

Equality briefing: Childcare vouchers and salary sacrifice schemes

Childcare vouchers are often offered as part of a salary sacrifice scheme, which means that employees agree to exchange part of their salary for the equivalent in vouchers. Originally issued in June 2004, this briefing was updated in April 2005. This reflects a change to the scheme which makes childcare vouchers up to the value of £50 per week free from tax and National Insurance Contributions (NICs).
