Campaigning Prospect is politically neutral, ie not affiliated to any party, but we have a strong track record of campaigning on political issues which directly affect our members. It's time to win value for skills. PayBack is Prospect's new campaign to improve the pay standing of its 36,000 members who work in public services, and to put recognition for their professional skills firmly on the agenda.
Prospect members in the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency - one of the key organisations responsible for road safety in the UK - are celebrating the lifting of a three-year threat of privatisation. Prospect campaigned strongly against the privatisation, arguing that it could affect our already-grim road safety statistics. Thousands of Prospect members work in public sector science across the UK. Science and technology play a key role in underpinning economic success and delivering wider benefits to society. But science for the national good is under threat. World-leading UK programmes including research into breast cancer, agri-engineering and animal diseases have been closed. Research on the impacts of climate change, pollution and biodiversity all face substantial cuts. Two hundred million people in the developing world are classified as ‘blind’ simply for the want of a pair of spectacles. Prospect has been working with Vision Aid Overseas to collect and donate members' unwanted spectacles
