Prospect branches, groups, networks and sectors

Prospect has more than 100,000 members working across 300+ employers, and specialisms ranging from palaeontology to project management. We represent their different interests in a number of ways.

Branches

Branches are the key unit of organisation for our members. We have over 250 branches, the largest of which are broken down into smaller sections. Most work-related issues are dealt with locally by the branch or section. Use the links on the left to find out more about branches in general, or specific examples of how some of our branches work.

Groups

Many Prospect issues affect members in more than one branch, so to help co-ordinate our work we have a number of groups. These include Heritage, Science, Engineering and Techology, MOD and Defence, Maritime and Logistics. 

Networks

There are also issues which affect thousands of members, regardless of who their employer is or what their specialism is. So Prospect has set up a number of informal networks - for example, women in science and engineering, homeworkers, and a young professionals network. Find out more about our networks.

Sectors

Prospect has three large 'sectors' to represent the needs of members who work in the same industrial sector but for different employers: the civil service sector and energy supply industry sector, and the Connect sector for members in telecoms/ICT. This enables us to discuss and tackle broad issues which involve all those members, such as public service pay,  energy policy and telecoms policy. 

National committees

At a national level we have an executive committee plus a number of specialist sub-committees dealing with issues such as health and safety, equal opportunities and pensions.
