Prospect groupsProfessional/occupational groupsSome of our groups bring together members in specific occupations working across a range of employers. Our heritage group covers over 5,000 members in more than 20 different branches, including the National Trust and archaeology branches. Their collective knowledge and expertise enables Prospect to campaign and speak authoritatively on issues such as improved central government funding for the heritage sector. The LIPS group (Library and Information Professionals) brings together more than 1,000 professionally qualified librarians and information professionals, from website managers to knowledge management advisers. Our SET Group is another example. More than half our members work in science, engineering or technology. Their jobs cover a wide range of specialisms in both the public and private sectors. Although the nature of their jobs and the terms and conditions of their employment may be very different, there are a number of issues which affect them all or in which they have a common interest. The SET Group brings them together to discuss these issues, and their expert input helps Prospect to campaign and to make well-argued and highly-regarded submissions to government reviews. Prospect's photographers' group represents a diverse range of imaging professionals working across a range of employers. Industry groupsOur Defence, Maritime and Logistics group (DMLG) represents the interests of 18,000 Prospect members employed in the defence industry across the public and private sectors. It: - debates issues on defence industrial policy to establish a Prospect view
- co-ordinates Prospect communications and lobbying related to defence industrial policy
- produces research and submissions to government, the CSEU and other stakeholders.
Employer-based groupsThe MOD Group covers more than 9,000 members working in various parts of the Ministry of Defence, with specialisms ranging from engineering to intelligence analysis. Although they are organised into a number of branches, many of our day-to-day negotiations on their behalf are employer-wide and affect all those branches. The MOD Group enables us to make a co-ordinated response on their behalf.
