Prospect Stationery Office
HMSO was privatised in October 1996, sold to Electra Fleming venture capitalists, and the Stationery Office Branch re-organised itself from a regionally based structure to Sections based on the Company's divisions.
In 2000 the Company's four divisons were converted to separate Companies, Prospect representing members in: The Stationery Office, Tactica, and Security Printing & Systems Limited. (Banner staff are in PCS.)
Since then The Stationery Office and Security Printing & Systems Limited were bought by Apax partners (venture capitalists) and Tactica was taken over by Astron. At the end of 2006 Astron was bought by RR Donnelley, the American print group, and Security Printing & Systems Limited was bought by 3M, with TSO being bought by Williams Lea in Jan 2007. More recently some members working for RR Donnelly have transferred to a new company CDS.
As at 15th October 2009 the Prospect Stationery Office Branch maintains an umbrella role for four separate Company Sections; TSO, RR Donnelly, CDS and Security Printing and Systems, where Prospect has negotiating and collective bargaining rights for Professional, Technical, Specialist and Managerial staff.
Much more information on the Branch and Sections activities is contained in the members area, so if you are not yet a Prospect member, use the "Join us" link on the left for more details.
