General course information

This is the key information you need if you're planning to attend one of our courses.

Applying for a course

education brochureYou can apply for any of our national courses online.

Within 7 days of your application being submitted, you will receive an acknowledgment advising you if we are able to allocate you a place on your chosen course.

Joining instructions

Approximately 14 days before the course start date, you will receive detailed joining instructions. Please read them in full as they contain important information about your chosen course. All course-related communication is carried out by email unless agreed otherwise.

Course tutors

Our courses are tutored by Prospect negotiators, organisers and specialist officers, dependent upon the subject area. We also use guest tutors on some of our courses.

Accommodation

All our 2-day courses are residential and participants are expected to stay over on the intervening night. We block-book accommodation for all participants for the intervening night only. If you don't need overnight accommodation - or if you need additional accommodation - please contact us as soon as you receive confirmation of your course place.

Q Can my partner stay over with me in the hotel?

A You are attending a training course with a full schedule of formal activities during the day and informal networking opportunities in the evening. For this reason we feel that it is not appropriate for partners and spouses to accompany course participants. If you feel that special circumstances exist, please contact us well ahead of the course start date.

Expenses

Your course tutor will explain Prospect’s travel and subsistence process at the start of your course. He/she will distribute claim forms and explain Prospect’s rules on what can/cannot be claimed for. You can also download claim forms and basic guidance notes. You must complete the claim in full and attach itemised receipts for all claimed expenditure. Individual items costing £4.99 or less may be claimed without a receipt, but you must provide an explanation of the expenditure. Claims for mileage do not need to be supported by a receipt.

You can hand your completed claim to the course tutor or return it to us by post. Incomplete claims, or those with receipts missing, will be returned to you unpaid. All claims are paid electronically by bank transfer, so it is important that you supply the correct bank account number and sort code.

Evaluation and feedback

Prospect Learning Services embraces a policy of continuous improvement. Everyone has the potential to get better at what they do! On each course you attend you will be asked to complete a course evaluation form. Your completed forms help us to better understand the things we are doing well and those that we need to improve upon. It also helps us to plan future training more efficiently.

You can also provide us with feedback, suggestions, compliments and complaints anytime. Email us at learning.services@prospect.org.uk
